Welcome to our 'Muggle' website!

So, you'll be wanting to know, wizards, just who are we, and what in the name of Merlin's baggy Y-fronts do we think we're doing putting up wizard news stories on the Muggle internet! No, it isn't a breach of the Statute of Secrecy! We have been given approval by the Department of International Magical Cooperation to go ahead with this project, and it assures us that no Muggle will take this site seriously, even if they were to accidently surf here. If you are happy with that reassurance, read on, we will explain our 'mission'...

About us

We are a group of Muggle-borns who earnestly believe that muggle-borns everywhere, those who have magical ability but are never picked up by the wizarding schools, have a right to integrate into wizarding society.

Through this Muggle website, which will provide select, up-to-date news stories from the Daily Prophet that may interest the non-practicing Muggle-born, we will attempt to re-engage those lost witches and wizards who live wholly in the Muggle world but retain their magical sense and can appreciate these Prophet reports for what they are. Hopefully in this way, we can in some small measure help to arrest the decline of the wizarding community in Britain.

In any case, the discerning wizard uses every means at his disposal to learn about the world, and wizards in the past have always taken up and made use of 'Muggle' technology (indeed they were often the real inventors of such technology before it was claimed and popularised among Muggles! Take the spinning jenny or steam power, for example). So it may seem strange that we are using the Muggle internet to get our message across, but remember that untrained Muggle-borns are not exactly watching out for messages in their scrying dishes, their bathroom mirrors or looking out for Owl Post!

Not quite as cute as the real thing we know...

While we are on the subject of what's real and what is fake, we'd better mention that there are a number of Daily Prophet websites already, all run by Muggles and entirely fake, of course. The popularity of the Harry Potter story and its spread from wizards to Muggle society is the cultural phenomenon of our times. That cultural transfer has occurred due to the story being promoted and sold by one JK Rowling (who as wizards know is not the real author, that's Amrar Ali-Khan (aka 'Harry Potter'), but is the ghost author among Muggles). But due to the popularity of Rowling's books among Muggles, the latter are well aware of terms like 'Daily Prophet' and the names of some witches and wizards like Albus Dumbledore and Lavender Brown.

Although the Daily Prophet often carries news about Harry Potter's doings (his quidditch career is of interest to many fans to say the least) we won't be using those articles on this website (though you might see the occasional mention in some Quidditch piece by Caiman Wickitt). Sorry for that folks, but that's the choice we made, as we don't want this website turning into a Harry Potter fansite! Also, many of those new Harry Potter adventures are in the 8th Muggle book, and we don't want to duplicate the story in there before it is even published!
