Quidditch roundup in brief
For the week ending 22 Aug 2021
Caiman Wickitts
With only three months to go to the end of the Quidditch year, the race is heating up at the top of the English Amateur Quidditch League. Highland Giants are gaining on Chester Chatchums after their spectacular win at the Eastridge Open and are still in it with a shot at the top spot, while in the professional league, Harry Potter's Essen Dragons maintain their domination of the German and international leagues, with a clear 6,000 points difference over second placed Thuringen.

With 6 German (incl one Austrian) and 3 French teams in the top ten, the professional Quidditch league remains dominated by the two big European Quidditch nations. With none of the big teams playing last week except for Münster who reached the Lyon final, attention was focused on the lower end of the league.
The Italian newcomers to the top division, Genoa Grimaldån continue their impressive run and have advanced 2 places from 16th to 14th place after winning the Lyon cup with a fast snitch capture after just 35 minutes of play against the favourites Münster. Final score 210-50.
They are not the biggest movers though as Bremen continue their comeback, moving up from 26th to 20th position after taking the Royal Hadsfelt Open in Denmark. That handsome win in the final over Stockholm Highflyers, 450-180 with the snitch caught after 2 h 25 minutes of play means they avoid any relegation issues, a relief no doubt to their beleaguered captain, Arhaus Berhingen. Their local compatriots Bremerhaven and the second Hamburg team, Stadt Harriers, are both however in the relegation zone, ranked 28th and 31st respectively. Looks like a difficult end to the season ahead for the Harriers, with only Prussian Knights below them at position 32.
