The Ministry of Magic confirmed reports circulating since yesterday that Aurors had raided the mansion of Baron Von Rumpston in Mons, Belgium.
"A team of Aurors from our London Ministry joined their Belgian colleagues in a joint raid on the home of Baron Emile von Rumpston after receiving a tip off that known Death Eaters in hiding and a couple of Dementors had congregated at his home. A search of the property showed that various Dark Objects, including knives with blood stains on them, had been secreted about the manor."
The new Ministry raid brings the tally of raids to four in the latest crackdown on suspected Death Eaters and their sympathisers living in Europe.
"These people are quite diabolical," said one Auror choosing not to be named. "There was blood on the floorboards under the carpets, and clear evidence of use of dragonblood in magical rituals of one kind or another."
A report in Die Post Wizardum claimed that Baron von Rumpston had fled Saturday to Germany and was now seeking protection from the Muggle government. His spokesman in Paris denied those claims, insisting the reclusive German Baron was still at his Belgian home.
He also alleged the raid was a conspiracy against the Baron and his family, a claim repeated by the Baron's staff.
"This has to do with those fake charges of Goblin and Schmut ancestry, for why would the Ministries choose to raid a law-abiding citizen like Baron von Rumpston?" said Dovik Mowbray, his butler before shutting the door in reporters' faces.
Asked whether the Baron possessed Dark Objects or was hiding the same for Death Eaters, his spokesman replied, "The Baron meets all sorts of people, and has gifts from many well-wishers. He does not always check the nature of such gifts."
